The meeting of the PES PTA Executive Board was called to
order at 2:50PM by Julie Vaughn , President.

Reports
President’s Report:
Julie Vaughn said a
Nominating Committee is needed in order to formulate
nominations for the PES PTA Board for next year. More
information will be forthcoming in the next Newsletter.
Anyone on the board who would like to serve on this
committee should see Julie.
The Grohler Family has
made a very generous donation of $1000.00 to PES PTA.
1st Vice
President (Membership):
Janet Lucci reported there are 521 out of 579 who are
members of the PES PTA.
2nd Vice
President (Programs):
Wendy Vargas reported that the December Snow White
Program was a big hit. The next Citizen of the month
luncheon will be January 12, 2007. The Virginia Opera
Program for 3rd – 5th graders will
be January 19, 2007 at 9:00am. The evening will be Movie
Night from 6:30pm. Reflection winners will be announced
that evening.

D. Principal’s
Report
Mrs. Carsten’s said that a Take Home Reading Program
would begin in January.
E. Committee
Reports:
Year Book:
Amy Johansen reported that the Year Book would have an
Aquarium Cover this year.
PTA® School Store:
A
pencil dispenser was installed in the Mail Room in the
Office.
Hospitality:
In December, the Hospitality Committee provided bowls of
goodies for the teachers in the Teacher’s Lounge.
Parents brought in tins of cookies for the teachers to
have a cookie swap for the holidays. The Hospitality
Committee also gave out birthday gifts for teachers with
birthdays.
5th Grade:
The Chilled Pond Program in February will be open to the
entire school.
VIE:
Julie Vaughn reminded everyone to continue logging their
hours upon signing in at the front desk.
Reflections:
Helen Ryan said the winners of the Reflection Contest
will be receiving trophies and medallions from the
Village Engraver. They will also be listed in the
Newsletter.
Ways and Means:
No report.
Corporate Tie-Ins:
Mrs. Wondergem’s class was the winner for November. Each
student received a homework pass. We received a check
for $252.00 from Box Tops.
After School Clubs:
The after school clubs will begin February 7 thru March
14th. Fliers will be going out in January.
The clubs will run from 2:45pm – 3:45pm on Wednesdays.
Scholarships:
Notices have gone out to Scholarship Central for
students interested in scholarships.
Legislation:
The results from the state emails will be listed in the
next Newsletter.
Faculty Representative:
No report.

Calendar:
The next General
Meeting will be held Thursday, December 21, 2006 @
6:30pm in the KHS Auditorium. The next Executive Board
Meeting will be held Tuesday, January 16 @ 2:45pm in the
PES Library.

order at 6:33 PM, 2006 in the Kempsville High School
Auditorium by Julie Vaughn, President.

Minutes
Minutes from the previous meeting were posted at the
door. Minutes Approved.
Treasurer Report:
Tracy Gilbert discussed the low budget. No questions
were asked. The Budget will be filed for Audit. See
attached report.
Adjournment:
The meeting was adjourned at 6:35pm by Julie Vaughn and
the floor was turned over to Mrs. Marilyn Johns for the
PES Holiday Program. |
