Mentors

“MENTOR AND ME” MENTORING PROGRAM

A mentor is someone who can be a buddy to a younger student.  A mentor is someone who can help a younger student read a book or complete a worksheet.  A mentor is someone who can be a good listener.  A mentor is someone who can give his or her time once a week.  A mentor is someone who cares.

The mentoring program has been very active for the past 6 years.  The program has proven to be a powerful tool for helping elementary students fulfill their potential.    By making a commitment of  one hour per week, you can make a difference in a students life!

Mentoring offers support and encouragement, which aims at developing the competence and character of  a student but it also teaches how to build a structured and trusting relationship between two people.    Helping a student by listening to them read a book, or solving math problems, or completing classwork are many activities that a  mentor can do during their time.

The program endorses positive role models for our students.  Any adults or students who are interested in becoming a mentor at Providence Elementary need to call Mrs. Muth, Guidance Counselor at Providence Elementary at 474-8470 x51105.

Any questions feel free to call.
